International Frigate Working Group To Meet
By John C. Marcario, Assistant Editor
The Navy will hold its first International Frigate Working Group meeting this month in Mayport, Fla. The meeting is designed to promote an understanding of where in the FFG 7 Class Squadron community the Navy can exchange ideas.
“It is probably the most modern ship that we have good numbers [of] around the world. ... In terms of warships, it lends its opportunity to a wide range of foreign customers,” Rear Adm. Jim McManamon, Naval Sea Systems Command deputy commander for surface warfare, told reporters May 6 at the Sea-Air-Space Exposition at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, National Harbor, Md.
The meeting will be held from May 12-15 and McManamon said it could become an annual event.
